This small city back garden was in desperate need of a makeover with just stone and concrete slabs making it an uninviting, unused dead space. Our aim was to transform it into a peaceful tranquil low maintenance garden that would provide a retreat from city life.
The main garden was lowered by 600mm to allow for variety of heights to be created, breaking the garden into sections and allowing for planting and year long interest. Outside the patio doors a raised decking area was constructed with a surrounding render block wall, with decking steps leading into the lowered garden.
A second rendered wall was constructed at the other end of the garden creating a raised planting bed and in front a large wooden seating area was built. With the addition of various planters for herbs and vegetables the construction was complete. The harsh brown fences were treated with a softer forest green. The main lower area was covered with Scottish pebbles, creating the relaxing feel.
